Women from Altmore and Sheringham Children’s Centres attending the Grow Graduation ceremony at Newham College where they are able to directly register onto courses.
This project has been established to develop a programme that moves women into adult education and work. We worked in two children’s centres with 20 women who wanted to get back to work and needed to access training. Participants will be moving on to Multiply, ESOL and Childcare and Teaching Assistant courses.
We will continue to build on our established relationship with Newham College including with Jan Prendergast who is Director of Curriculum for ESOL, Community Education, English and Maths.
“Working with the Belina Grow CIC Project has been an excellent way to open doors. They remove barriers and allow parents to safely access information and raise awareness of the possibilities open to them. It gives women a fully rounded programme that includes confidence building and employability as well as functional courses on the Multiply maths programme that is working so well to develop people’s maths skills as well as working in schools courses. Between the Belina Grow CIC Project and Newham College we see disadvantaged mothers thriving and progressing towards a better future.”
